
In the early sixteenth-century King Henry VIII
ordered this mediaeval brick tower to be slighted after the
unsuccessful Lincolnshire rebellion. Since which time it has
remained in the ownership of the Boston Borough Council.
Anderson and Glenn have been commissioned to
prepare a schedule of works for the installation of a new roof and
timber floors. Buildings archaeologist Dr Jonathan Clark, of the
University of York, has undertaken a detailed analysis of the
structure, which is being used to inform the work.
